About Ryan Baxter

Ryan grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin and received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin Madison, performing undergradate research with professor Sam H. Gellman.  He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan under Professor John Montgomery where he studied nickel-catalyzed reductive couplings of various pi-systems.  He carried out postdoctoral research at the Scripps Research Institute as a Pfizer contractor and Ruth L. Kirschstein Postdoctoral Fellow under the co-advising of Professors Donna G. Blackmond and Phil S. Baran.  At Scripps, Ryan was part of a team that developed new sulfinate reagents for the radical functionalization of heterocycles, and performed Reaction Progress Kinetic Analysis on palladium-catalyzed C–H activation reactions in collaboration with Professor Jin-Quan Yu.
